Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To maintain all kitchen floors and keep them free of debris, remove trash and cardboard in a timely manner in accordance to standards for food manufacturing. To ensure that kitchen areas are neat and organized through entire shift of prepping and cooking activities.

  • Maintain floors in the kitchen areas clean
  • Check that all trashcans have lids
  • Monitor all prep areas and remove all dirty items, i.e. buckets, baskets, dollies, clamps, gaskets, lids, strainers, pitchers, bowls etc. to either tray washer or washroom areas for cleaning.
  • Must be able to operate a manual pallet jack. Clean all kitchen and prep floors with soap and water, using a squeegee and pitcher solution at all times during shift to maintain the floors from slip hazards and provide a clean work environment for the kitchen.
  • Take advantage of breaks and lunch periods to clean the different work centers
  • Assist team leads calls for help with sanitation related issues
  • Place safety cones in wet areas as necessary to prevent slip and falls
  • Clean up spills and wet floors immediately
  • Break cardboard boxes and place it in a large box or on a pallet
  • Remove empty pallets from the different work centers and take to tray washer
  • Keep supply racks and work station organized
  • Ability to work in a team oriented atmosphere
  • Comply with the rules and regulations set forth in Amy's Kitchen Inc. employee handbook, the safety manual and GMP booklet.
  • Take proper precautions and use all equipment safely
  • Wear personal protective gear as assigned
  • Must be flexible and open to work overtime
  • Inform team leader or supervisor if any problem arises
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education and/or Experience

  • No prior experience or training required

Language Skills

  • Ability to read simple instructions.
  • Ability to complete simple forms.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with team leads and supervisor.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add and subtract numbers

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be a self starter and demonstrate initiative. Must be able to make decision and act upon them in a timely manner to maintain standard of cleanliness.

The position requires constant movement, reaching stretching, lifting, pulling, pushing, rapid movements under wet condition (non-weather). The employee must on a regular basis lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high. The work environment is subject to many of the above-described conditions on a day-to-day basis.
