Pelican is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Manager to join our Product Development team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Product Development, the Program Manager will be instrumental in planning and executing the timelines and milestones for new product launches in plastics manufacturing. This role will involve coordinating cross-functional teams based on skill sets, driving them through the development process, and ensuring successful product launches. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing complex programs.
JOB DUTIES
- Develop and maintain detailed schedules, timelines, and milestones for new product launches.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, operations, marketing, and sales, ensuring optimal alignment based on skill sets.
- Lead and drive teams through the product development process, ensuring adherence to project goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among US and overseas team members.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Monitor and report on project progress, adjusting as necessary to meet objectives.
- Collaborate with the Director of Research and Development, and Product Marketing to align program goals with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and efficiency in project management practices.
- Align with C-Suite on regular monthly status updates.
- Additional Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of experience in program or project management, preferably within a consumer-based product development environment.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing (e.g., injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding).
- Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional programs from ideation to commercialization.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools. (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Agile, Waterfall, Stage-Gate).
- Demonstrated success in risk management, stakeholder alignment, and delivering on high-visibility, high-impact initiatives.
- Strong understanding of product development stages and working with overseas and US manufacturing.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- PMP or similar project management certification is highly desirable.
