Summary

Responsible for coordination, development and implementation of programs to develop and enhance the skills of our technicians in the Construction division. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Construction Division technical and safety training needs. Secondary responsibility is to coordinate Construction customer technician training classes.

Essential Functions

  • Administrator and Manager of the Caterpillar LMS "The Dealer Performance Center".
    • Facilitates Caterpillar specific class registrations and approvals.
    • Facilitates travel arrangements as needed.
  • Administrator of the Weisiger Technician LMS.
    • Manages the Construction Division TCD programs.
    • Manages class enrollments.
    • Manages E-Learning.
    • Manages Certifications.
  • Coordinates Construction Technician Onboarding.
    • Assist with the Guardian Onboarding Plans.
  • Builds annual individual development plans (IDP) for each Construction technician through collaboration with local Managers to align with the TCD programs.
  • Assists with Think BIG, CPCC, SkillBridge, FAST-TRACK, VoTech, and Apprenticeship programs.
    • Think Big Advisory Committee Member. (attends spring and fall meetings)
  • Assists Safety Communication and Training Specialist as needed with safety initiatives.
  • Provides Managers monthly reports on Instructor Led Training hours, Web Based Training hours, Certification advancement, progress vs. plan of IDPs, upcoming training schedules, and training costs.
  • Manages external training consultants, develops program specifications, facilitates class requirements, and audits programs for quality and relevance.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of Weisiger Group's business and anticipates future learning and development.
  • Works with Construction Business/External Customers to provide Customer specific training classes/schedule.
    • Produce yearly calendar.
    • Work with Customers/ Sales Reps to provide ad-hoc classes as needed.
    • Facilities class requirements such as room procurement, lunches, and class notifications.
    • Invoice Customers via Sales Link.
  • Builds and fosters relationships with Caterpillar and/or other OEM vendors while incorporating their inputs into course materials, as appropriate.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Travels to outlying locations on an as needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience specializing in Project Management and/or Training/Organizational Development. Bachelor's degree in Business or related field a plus.
  • Demonstrates track record of taking initiative, working independently, and handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates a passion for success and strives to exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrates ability to quickly establish and maintain credibility with key leaders at all levels of the organization. Consultative skills and experience required.
  • Experience with Articulate software a plus.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Talent Management (Learning Management Systems) software systems to enhance employee and company performance a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Functional expertise in assessment, evaluation, and training needs analysis, project management, organization systems, and internal consulting.
  • Knowledgeable in Technical and Adult Learning Theory; conducts trend research for best practices.
  • Strong negotiation skills and project management experience.
  • Skilled at making clear and persuasive presentations. Builds credibility quickly with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in and manage ambiguity, deal with issues or problems, work independently, drive for results and stay focused to accomplish objectives with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to think strategically and systemically.
  • Ability to be flexible, creative and can grasp complex concepts and execute ideas. Motivated by challenges.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with individuals or in groups.
  • Thorough Technical understanding of skill sets by industry.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.

Travel Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to travel to Carolina CAT branch locations/customer sites to deliver training materials/perform hands on training. Occasional overnight stays are required, determined by length of training and distance to location. The employee is occasionally required to travel to OEM training facilities, demonstration centers, etc., for training/development purposes which may require air travel and/or long-distance driving and extended overnight stays of up to 5 days. The employee must provide their own vehicular transport and will be reimbursed for mileage related to required travel for business purposes.
