Position Summary

Oversees the production process and coordinates all activities within the production team to ensure resources are on hand. Responsible for long term and short-term planning as it relates to all workflow through the manufacturing of Umbilical's in Oceaneering Panama City facility with an integral focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost to all facets of business operations.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

  • Oversee day-to-day operation of assigned area including workflow, management of work in process, job assignments, rotations, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment through delivery of monthly safety training topics, department safety audits, and participation in incident reviews. Enforce compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Contribute safety suggestions for improvement. Conducting shift toolbox talks to conduct detail review of safety, quality, and schedule items that pertain to day-to-day operations.
  • Supports positive employee relations in all aspects of interaction with employees including valuing differences, engagement action planning, and monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures which support these goals.
  • Develops, trains, and involves employees and other production supervisors in maintaining and improving department efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale. Will utilize new hire orientation, competency program, performance reviews and other management tools.
  • Monitor product quality to meet customer specifications, ensuring that Good Manufacturing Practices are effectively deployed in area of responsibility.
  • Resolves personnel problems by partnering with Human Resources, analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain visual management boards with key performance metrics/data and conduct daily accountability meetings. Lead CI Board activities to generate & implement ideas that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Responsible for writing and updating manufacturing work instructions, procedures, JSEA's and checklists.
  • Managing the Management of Change (MOC) process as it relates to manufacturing work instructions, manufacturing processes and equipment modifications, issuing information notices and supporting and supporting relevant training changes.

PREFERRED:

  • Perform essential recordkeeping and timekeeping functions for department personnel. Monitor employee attendance and absenteeism, holding employees accountable as necessary.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises shift operations in accordance with production schedules in the most cost effective manner.
  • Responsible for process control of the entire shift. Maintains total awareness of policies and procedures and assures compliance by assigned employees.
  • Communicates formally and informally on daily basis, verbally and in writing, all discrepancies, changes in schedules, and shift activities of significance.
  • Facilitates shift production meetings and coordinates inter-plant and plant-vendor product movement to meet production schedules.
  • Contacts appropriate engineer or area manager to resolve problems occurring on the shift. Reviews quality and rework problems and initiates corrective action.
  • Support the equipment maintenance program by ensuring that operators are performing scheduled Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) activities. Coordinate maintenance activities for repair of critical equipment on shift of responsibility.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
  • Drive improvements in Operational Equipment Efficiency (OEE) through by optimizing machine utilization and capacity.
  • Coordinate Non-Conformance reporting with the QA manager and manufacturing personnel.
  • Assisting with new equipment purchase, modification, and installation.
  • Identifying and procuring better tools, fixtures, and equipment for manufacturing.
  • Participate in all Closing, Extrusion and Load-out pre-meetings and assist with closing/bundling, extrusion, and load-out operations.
  • Participate in Project meetings and coordinate manufacturing requirements to meet or exceed expectations of all Project deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or other related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 5 years working in supervisory role in manufacturing operations.
  • Direct experience in the implementation of continuous improvement tools and principles in both manufacturing and business processes.
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC and Port Pass for work location access.
  • Must be able to support a 24/7 production schedule and may be required to rotate shifts as needed for coverage.

DESIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering, business, or another related field.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI), 6S, lean manufacturing, and training in Lead/Six Sigma preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Ensures that important information from management is shared with employees and others as appropriate.
  • Gives and receives constructive feedback.
  • Ensures that others involved in a project or effort are kept informed about developments and plans.
  • Ensures that regular consistent communication takes place within area of responsibility.
  • Has skills tied to cloud-based Microsoft tools such as SharePoint, Teams Channels, and other applications.
  • Holds team responsible for understanding and practicing daily Oceaneering safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Holds peer managers accountable to remedy solutions to problems in an effort to achieve the common goals of the plant.
  • Carries messages from different levels of management and shared functions within the organization and owns this as well as carries this out to different areas within his team as necessary.
