The Corporate Waste and HazMat Transportation Program Specialist is responsible for the oversight of waste and hazardous materials shipping activities by Stellantis NA facilities and organizations (US, CAN, and MEX) to ensure that applicable regulations are complied with, that new regulations are identified and incorporated into processes and procedures, and to provide support to address any related compliance issues or risks. Additionally, the Specialist is responsible to provide support for Stellantis facilities on waste reduction and recycling initiatives to help the plant and company meet their KPI targets. These activities are to be conducted through the utilization of standardized operational systems and practices such as the Stellantis Production Way (SPW), ISO 14001 certifications, and Stationary Environmental Bulletins.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Track and monitor regulatory changes related to the management of waste and hazardous materials shipping; process will include participation with various state and federal advocacy organizations to provide a platform for Stellantis to comment on regulatory initiatives beyond individually.
  • Maintain corporate procedures and Stationary Environmental Bulletins related to waste management and hazardous materials shipping issues.
  • Educate and train Stellantis personnel on applicable waste and hazardous materials shipping regulatory and corporate requirements; include the use and entry of data into HAZMIN, ETrack, and the TSDR database.
  • Identify, share and implement waste best practices to drive waste reduction and reuse activities at Stellantis facilities throughout NAFTA.
  • Work with MLM and/or other corporate organization on packaging or other initiatives to drive reductions in waste throughout the company.


  • Support training of all applicable personnel on HazMat material identification, packaging, labeling, shipping documents, and container management (disposable and returnable).
  • Work within IT systems to ensure that hazardous materials are identified prior to shipment.
  • Interface with regulatory agency representatives when necessary to address inspections or other compliance issues to effectively manage compliance risks.
  • Additionally, this position will develop an on-going basis audit program for Hazardous Material shipment practices at Stellantis facilities to ensure compliance with established work instructions, and implement corrective actions where necessary, and
  • Other tasks required to achieve a compliant, robust and proactive waste and hazardous material transportation compliance program for Stellantis facilities

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, engineering, science or related field.
  • Excellent understanding of state and federal regulations related to the management, characterization and disposal of waste (US RCRA) and hazardous materials transportation (US DOT).
  • Minimum of five years of relevant environmental compliance experience such as manufacturing environmental specialist, environmental consulting, regulatory agency, etc.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and/or other computer software database tools


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in environmental, engineering, science or related field
  • Environmental related professional certifications (e.g. PE, CHMM)
  • Automotive or manufacturing environmental compliance experience
