AMD together we advance_

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hardware Development Engineer with a strong background in system board design to join our hardware engineering team. This role involves the end-to-end design, development, validation, and release of complex PCB-based systems for next-generation electronic products.

THE PERSON:

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to bring high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective products from concept to production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead or contribute to the design and development of multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs) for embedded systems, servers, or consumer electronics.
  • Translate system-level requirements into board-level architecture and component selection.
  • Perform schematic capture and collaborate with PCB layout engineers to implement high-speed, high-density board designs.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to design standards, quality metrics, and industry best practices.
  • Validate and debug hardware using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Support the bring-up of new hardware platforms and work closely with firmware/software teams on integration.
  • Generate and maintain detailed documentation including schematics, BOMs, layout files, and test procedures.
  • Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFT (Design for Test), and signal integrity throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support prototyping and production ramp-up.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, components, and design methodologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Seasoned experience in hardware/system board design.
  • Proficiency in Concept schematic capture tools.
  • Hands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, and testing.
  • Solid understanding of high-speed digital design, signal integrity, power distribution, and EMI/EMC.
  • Familiarity with interfaces such as PCIe, USB, DDR, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with high-performance SoC/CPU-based board designs.
  • Knowledge of thermal and mechanical constraints in board design.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (FCC, CE) and environmental standards (RoHS, REACH).
  • Experience with simulation tools (e.g., HyperLynx, SPICE, SI/PI analysis).

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
