About the Job
This position manages the daily operations of all the outdoor equipment and Rental Center, reporting directly to the Director of Outdoor Program. Responsibilities include supervising 10-15 student staff, managing a large gear inventory, and coordinating equipment logistics for 60+ trips annually. Additional duties include staff supervision and development as well as equipment maintenance. The role is part of a collaborative three-person professional team that supports the trips and climbing program as needed. Ideal candidates are encouraged to be problem solvers with strong communication, customer service skills, and leadership in the outdoor industry. Responsibilities: Rental Center Management (50%) * Manage daily rental operations which generates over $80k of annual revenue and equipment logistics that supports 60+ trips, clinics, and events. * Oversee inventory, database software, financial reporting, equipment maintenance, and gear purchasing. * Enhance and refine policies and procedures to improve shop organization and staff efficiency. * Compile Rental Center metrics for monthly and annual reporting. * Develop and maintain vendors and community partnerships through group rentals. Supervision (20%) * Recruit, hire, train, and supervise 10-15 student employees supporting Rental Center operations. * Provide staff development through regular meetings and seasonal trainings. * Oversee and fulfill all scheduling needs for Rental Center shifts. * Collaborate with Outdoor Program and Recreation and Wellness to provide student development and leadership opportunities. Maintenance and Repairs (15%) * Manage all rental inventory including bikes (city, mountain, fat), backpacking gear (tents, sleeping bags, packs etc), watercraft (SUPs, canoes) and winter equipment (Nordic skis, snowshoes, and ice climbing). * Apply mechanical skill and creative problem solving to maintain equipment reliability and safety. * Coordinate fleet vehicles and trailers with ongoing maintenance and usage. Program Support (15%) * Collaborate with Outdoor Program staff through meetings, workshops and trainings to develop programs, goals, and budget development. * Support marketing, outreach, and vendor relations to promote rentals for the campus and community.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: BA/BS plus at least two (2) years of experience or a combination of related education and experience to equal six (6) years. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in outdoor recreation, outdoor education or related field * Demonstrated experience in a variety of outdoor recreation skills including cycling, skiing, camping, backpacking, canoeing and climbing. * Experience in planning and leading outdoor programs. * Background in experiential education, training, or instruction. * Technical skills in bike mechanics and general outdoor gear repair. * Experience in budget management and recreation management software systems
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $24.04-25.48 depending on education/qualifications/experience Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
