Your Job

As a leader of New Product Development Sourcing, you will manage the sourcing process for all new products. This includes focusing on driving key performance indicators that support procurement influence related to winning new business as well as manage the quoting and sourcing requirements for mechanical components and electronics for the Business Units. The objective is to align the Category Management strategies to the business while launching new products on schedule with the lowest total cost of ownership, best quality and with risk mitigation plans in place.

As a leader of the business unit sourcing, you will be responsible for applying the appropriate category strategies in close collaboration with the global direct and indirect category leaders, identifying and contracting with suppliers for assigned categories, and managing continuous improvement activities to improve total cost, quality, delivery and supplier technology support.

Our Team

Molex is seeking a Global Procurement professional to supervise new product development sourcing and supply base management activities for our Networking Segment (responsible for Coax, USB, LVDS, ethernet connectors and cable assemblies). This position will be in the US (Rochester Hills). This role reports to the Manager, Networking Sourcing. This is a working Supervisor role who will be responsible for sourcing new product and leading the Sourcing Engineer.

What You Will Do

  • Build and mentor a strong team regarding Principle Based Management framework, sourcing skills and supplier relationship management to support our business objectives for New Product Development.
  • Partner with Networking leadership and cross functional team members throughout the Product Development process to manage total costs through Product Launch.
  • Partner with Networking leadership and cross functional team members to identify and execute cost improvement VAVE ideas.
  • New supplier identification, sourcing, selection and contracting.
  • Collaborate with Category Team members & the business to maintain Supplier Segmentation with respect to Strategic & Key supplier partners.
  • Build supplier relationships with critical suppliers.
  • Align category strategies (Electronics, Mechanical) to Business segments.
  • Drive architectural cost management objectives to Product design teams.
  • Conduct should-cost and make vs. buy analyses with team members to support sourcing decision based on robust economic thinking.
  • Negotiate contracts and legal terms under the guidance of the internal legal support team.
  • Proactive supply risk management in the new product development process, as well as supporting supply disruption solutioning for product in mass production at plants.
  • Monitor sourcing and procurement innovation trends in the marketplace.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or similar degree.
  • 3+ years' direct or indirect supervisory experience in the procurement function focused on direct spend.
  • 5+ years' experience in New Product Development Sourcing.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Ability to be available for conference calls beyond core business hours.
  • Automotive industry experience.
