Overview

Nakupuna Consulting is looking for a Public Affairs and Social Media Analyst to assist our customer - the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Public Affairs (PA) Office - in managing and improving their current Marketing and Social Media efforts. This includes helping the PA team manage DPAA's public posts to the dpaa.mil website and other social media platforms as well as creating content for mass publications. The Public Affairs and Social Media Analyst may also recommend ways to improve DPAA's existing marketing and social media efforts by assisting DPAA PA staff with web content workflow analysis and redesign. The candidate may work with an existing team of Salesforce Developers to implement new improvements.



Responsibilities

Social media related duties:

    Prepare and maintain a social media marketing calendar integrating all social media platforms used by DPAA (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
  • Develop relevant social media posts for approval and release by Government release Authority.
  • Advise Public Affairs Office staff on social media strategy and best practices.
  • Audit, consolidate, and simplify the Public Affairs Office's current marketing and social media communications and tools.
  • Collaborate with the client to deliver products such as the Year in Review Magazine, through creating content, graphic design, and advising format/layout decisions.
  • Track, analyze, and report on engagement statistics, and provide guidance to improve engagement.
  • Lead and/or assist development team in configuring social media platform tools.
  • Recommend additional software, if necessary, that may support the PA Office's marketing and social media goals.
  • Develop technical user guides and train PA personnel on any new software or marketing best practices.
  • Be familiar with the recording, editing, and posting process for Podcasts, and other audio/visual platforms that DPAA may choose to adopt in the future.
  • Advise and deliver social media campaigns, such as the "DPAA in the Field" series.

Website content related duties:

  • Analyze current website content and document actionable plans (COAs/Courses of Action) to modernize the website experience.
  • Procure / source photos to support narrative language provided by DPAA for posting to the website.
  • Work closely with the development team to incorporate branding themes across current website.
  • Design and create printable material for the website as requested by DPAA.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Proactively communicate with the customer to gather and document requirements.
  • Use Agile Methodology, including use of a ticketing system to document work, development of MVP (Minimal Viable Products) to gain feedback from customers quickly and frequently, and ability to pivot when requirements shift.
  • Provide polished content for Monthly Status Reports and other deliverables required by the contract.
  • Attend client and internal meetings as required.

Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends to support high-profile social media needs, sometimes with little advance notice.



Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: The ideal candidate is familiar and has experience with the following technical knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience with the following Social Media Platforms: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Podcasts, YouTube.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Proficient in additional design platforms, such as Canva.
  • Experience interacting and collaborating with executives and senior management
  • Experience serving as a liaison with clients to coordinate activities, negotiate tasks, and solve problems.
  • Ability to quickly adapt based on client feedback while working with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative to find ways to support the client and be comfortable working solo when needed.
  • Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay accountable to a complex social media schedule spanning multiple social media platforms.
  • Maintain scrupulous attention to detail, ensuring that all publications are accurate and error free, respecting the sensitive and highly visible nature of the content.
  • Willingness to take action to overcome challenges or obstacles and look for ways to improve results.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution as well as a minimum of (3) five years of relevant professional experience. Equivalent years of related work or military experience in lieu of degree will also be considered.

Clearance Requirements: Must currently have at least a Secret level security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Work Location: This opportunity is in Arlington, VA and requires five (5) days per week on-site. Travel to Honolulu, HI may be required approximately one week per year. This position may require working outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet occasional operational or project demands.
