Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking a Disclosure Administrator to join the Public Finance Department in our Chicago office. No prior public finance experience is required, however critical thinking skills and a comfort level with numbers and math is essential. The Disclosure Administrator will be responsible for, among other things, finding and analyzing information from various sources and collating and preparing spreadsheets and other documents for review by lawyers, bond investors and others. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior paralegal or project assistant to work with one of the country's preeminent law firms in state and municipal finance. The position requires an in-office presence in the Chicago office but includes flexibility for some remote work.

The successful candidate must be able to interact with others in a professional, approachable manner, have strong analytical skills, be independently motivated and embrace ownership of all day-to-day responsibilities. As mentioned, no prior public finance experience is required. Eventual responsibilities, after necessary training, will include the following, all subject to guidance and supervision by managing attorney and other professionals:

  • Assist in the preparation of municipal securities public offering documents and secondary market disclosures.
  • Edit documents while maintaining attention to detail and being mindful of efficiency.
  • Prepare documents according to issuer client, supervising attorney and securities law specifications; obtain copies of signed pages; track missing items and work with appropriate issuer client staff and third-party vendors to obtain those documents.
  • Communicate effectively with issuer clients, investment bank deal participants and supervising attorneys via telephone and e-mail; maintain organized e-mail folders.
  • Coordinate with issuer client, investment bank deal participants and supervising attorneys to meet client deadlines and securities laws filing requirements.
  • Keep supervising attorneys and other municipal disclosure professionals informed of the status of all work; follow established procedures for document and file preparation; calendar production schedule deadlines and prepare documents in advance of due dates to allow for proper review by supervising attorneys and other professionals on the disclosure team.
  • Assist with attorney work, including preparing and editing requested documents, document redlining; maintain all document work in internal document management system.

Desired qualifications are as follows:

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Driven to provide excellent work product

  • Teamwork and customer service orientation
  • Committed to following all Firm security protocols and maintaining information security
