Enrollment Management

Job Description

The Student Support Specialist I is a member of the Admissions Operations team and is responsible for processing documents related to undergraduate and graduate applications for enrollment. This role includes reviewing applications and academic records (e.g., transcripts, test scores), entering admission decisions, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of student records in SLATE, PeopleSoft, and ImageNOW. The speed and precision of this work directly impact the admit/enroll yield of both domestic and international students. A strong focus on customer service is essential, as the position involves frequent communication with prospective students and other stakeholders, providing timely, accurate, and professional support throughout the admissions process.

Primary Responsibilities

Application Processing & Data Entry

  • Code, enter, and review applications for completeness
  • Enter admission decisions and process change-of-major requests for undergraduate and graduate applicants
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of applications within designated decision timeframes

Document Management

  • Review and process documents received in hard copy or electronic format to support evaluation by graduate, transfer, and freshman admissions teams
  • Determine the authenticity of documents and ensure proper entry and linking in SLATE, PeopleSoft, and ImageNOW
  • Make informed decisions about updating data across multiple systems as needed

Communication & Support

  • Communicate with prospective students regarding application status and required documentation
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants and other stakeholders via phone, email, or written correspondence
  • Provide training, assistance, and guidance to students and internal staff on the application process

Collaboration & Liaison Duties

  • Act as a liaison with admissions counselors, the AVP of Enrollment Management, the Registrar, and academic departments to resolve admission issues and share policy updates
  • Provide reports and information to internal and external stakeholders as needed

Administrative Support

  • Assist with non-routine projects and provide department-wide support during peak periods
  • Support general admissions operations, including call handling and managing the admissions email inbox
  • Serve as a backup for tasks such as checking core requirements, opening mail, and preparing documents for routing or linking

Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience in higher education admissions or student records processing
  • Familiarity with SLATE, PeopleSoft, and ImageNOW systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of data accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work occasional extended hours during peak periods

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $15.00-$17.00 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
