Pay Range

$103,500 - $157,464 Annually

$103,500 - $131,256 Annually for the TSS.1 level

$124,200 - $157,464 Annually for the TSS.2 level

This is the lowest to highest salary in good faith we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.


Job Description

We have an opening for an entry levelProject Managerto provide support to the Hydrodynamic and Subcritical Experiment (HSE) element within the Weapon Physics and Design Program. You will work with technical and management teams to support oversight of the HSE portfolios at LLNL's Site 300 experimental test facilities. This position is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate.

Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week

This position will be filled at eitherlevel based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

You will

  • Contribute to team by applying project management principles, methods, and tools to support and assist in developing analytics and reporting criteria to ensure successful programmatic project execution, including program implementation, and participating in the resolution of problems of limited complexity.
  • Participate in improving internal processes, reviewing status of projects, and assisting in the preparation of status reports and other documentation following and adhering to defined and standard practices and procedures, working under general direction.
  • Support efforts to integrate schedule, resource requirements, and project development updates, including all design and execution points.
  • Assist technical staff in identifying and evaluating standards and procedures to improve overall process efficiency, and by monitoring the progress of work and impact of changes while working as a liaison between technical staff and the HSE program leadership.
  • Participate in and contribute to post-project evaluations to identify successes and areas for improvement among the physics, engineering and execution teams.
  • Assist in providing proper documentation and recording of programmatic milestones, reviews, decisions, and action items.
  • Contribute to the resolution of problems of limited complexity, provide solutions using standard techniques and methodologies, and participate in the presentation of recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the TSS.2 level

  • Contribute to and support the management, planning, and execution of the scope, schedule, and budget of the HSE Hydrotest Program and Capability Expansion Portfolios.
  • Provide support to engineers/scientists in analyzing and providing creative solutions to diverse and moderately complex technical problems across various projects within the HSE portfolio, applying analysis and creativity to established techniques and methods.
  • Define and interpret technical criteria to inform specific operational requirements.
  • Participate with engineering technical staff in the preparation of project plans, and operation of moderately complex components and systems, including task estimation, providing input on technical or operational issues, and recommending and implementing improvements and processes as appropriate.
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders to complete project activities, including impacting concepts, processes, customer requirements, and sponsor satisfaction.
  • Perform independent technical, analysis or operational tasks, projects, and support, working towards goals and objectives while balancing resources and identifying risk.
  • May provide guidance and/or informal mentoring to less experienced personnel.

Qualifications
  • This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical related field or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the processes involved in experimental design, fabrication, and testing.
  • Sufficient written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills necessary to communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members from across different internal groups, to present and explain technical or operational information, and to develop solutions to problems of limited complexity.

Additional qualifications at the TSS.2 level

  • Ability and flexibility to reprioritize and change programmatic direction depending on emergent requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independent work on tasks in support of management of the assigned projects.
  • Experience in the execution of moderately complex technical projects or experimental activities using project management skills, including planning schedules, cost estimation, and tracking and reporting on performance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and broad experience in the application of experimental design, fabrication, and testing processes.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Knowledge of Site 300 experimental testing facilities.
  • Knowledge of existing HSE portfolio scope and deliverables.
