About the Position

The Platform Services Senior Manager position is responsible for managing the Cloud, Infrastructure and Platform Services team with Enterprise Technology & Innovation department. The PSM Manager is responsible for ensuring maximum performance of the compute, storage, and cloud platforms, working with County customers and vendors regarding current and future projects, and taking a proactive approach to the server infrastructure and systems.

We Require

  • Six years of Technical IT Management work experience, which includes:

    • Three years working in large Virtual and Microsoft environments supporting 1000 Systems and 10,000+ users,

    • Three years of budget management and prior systems hands-on experience for Operating System (O/S) Administration using Windows and VMware

  • Two years in a management and/or supervisory capacity

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Technical Experience

    • Experience working in a large-scale Multi-cloud Enterprise environment with an understanding of Cloud networking technologies such as Azure ExpressRoute and AWS DirectConnect

    • Experience deploying, maintaining, and monitoring PaaS or IaaS workloads

    • Understanding of Cloud security best practices

    • Configuration Management experience using Microsoft/Linux

    • SAN/Cluster experience (HPE, Pure, Brocade)

    • Knowledge of backup and recovery applications such as Commvault

    • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, Cloud Formation)

    • Knowledgeable on VMware Hybrid Cloud Platforms VCF, Azure, AWS, Google.

    • Experienced with Hyper-converged Infrastructure (HCI). Understanding of unified systems of storage, compute, networking

  • Preferred Training, Certifications and/or Other Special Requirements:

    • PMP- Project Management Professional

    • ITIL Foundation

Job Contributions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with subordinates, while providing guidance and training on troubleshooting techniques

  • Provide ongoing monitoring and proactive administration, tune and maintain systems to ensure maximum performance, reliability and availability to ensure SLAs are met

  • Provide outstanding customer service/support. Track support provided. Work with customers to ensure and understand their business needs and how departmental-provided services can be best delivered to meet their needs

  • Work with customers to architect and implement new technology projects; this includes working with vendors, performing project management, communicating with customers, directing subordinates and coordinating vendors

  • Develop and execute test plans to check server infrastructure and virtualization systems availability for disaster recovery. Report on findings, and make recommendations for improvement to Sr. Management

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
