Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for an HR Generalist Temporary position. The successful candidate will join the Human Resources and Organizational Development team within the Department of Family Services which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. We support individuals and families in the community to live their best lives while advocating for those most vulnerable and respecting their right to self- determination.


Job Summary

The temporary HR Generalist will assist the Human Resources & Organizational Development (HROD) Team with administrative training, and onboarding needs including:

  • Preparing administrative documentation for HR policies.
  • Managing department data and reports (assisting with vacancy report.
  • Performance metrics.
  • Assisting with monthly Department orientation which may include correspondence with new hires and respective hiring managers.
  • Initiating and reviewing background checks on top candidates being considered for the department.
  • Assisting in completing salary worksheets from hiring managers and ensuring a proper salary is being offered.
  • Obtaining necessary approval for the salary worksheet and upload documents into applicant tracking system.
  • Conducting a weekly recruiting check-in with Hiring Manager and Liaisons to stay informed of where each position is at in the interview process.
  • Assisting in presenting Interview Training as needed.
  • Posting open jobs in applicant tracking system.
  • Assisting Hiring Managers on reclassifications and classifications.
  • Tracking Department vacancies and hires in the Vacancy Report
  • Performing other tasks in support of recruitment, selection and hiring.
This temporary position will run from September 2025 through June 2026. Salary commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; one (1) year of related work experience in the assigned area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Human Resources Certification.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
  • DMV, criminal and credit background checks required.
  • This position has a Position of Trust designation.
