Description

Are you a detail-oriented and personable customer service expert with an interest in the police department? Then you may be a good fit for a part-time Administrative Support Assistant position with the West Allis Police Department.

Your time will be spent answering customers' questions in person and over the phone about court citations, parking tickets, incident reports, licenses, etc, taking payments for citations and permits, and processing important documents in a manner required by State law including Open Record Requests, Accident Reports, and more.

This person will need superb communication, customer service, and organizational skills for tasks including record filing, appointment setting, mail processing, maintaining records, opening/closing duties, cash register/money counting, database entry, and related tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable and trustworthy, has an eye for details and fact-checking, and is comfortable following up with projects to completion. This person will have at minimum a high school education and two to three years of experience in business office work, cash handling, typing, and computer skills.

Work Hours: 10:30am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday

Examples of Duties

  • Assist customers at the counter with questions, payments of citations and permits, bike and pet licenses.
  • Process online payments, bail fees and mail.
  • Process open record and accident requests.
  • Enter parking tickets and verify that information is correct.
  • Maintain and balance cash drawer while processing transactions at the counter.
  • Assist customers with Court information, property and report inquires and direct them as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/ GED Required.
  • Two years of recent paid business office work experience, cash handling experience, 40 wpm typing skills.
