A Brief Overview Physicians who are board certified pediatricians, have completed PICU fellowship, and are board certified/board eligible in PCCM are qualified to become a Hospital Provider - Physician Scholar in the CHOP PICU. Hospital Physicians Scholars will have the opportunity to work clinically at both the Philadelphia Campus PICU and KOPH Campus PICU as well as developed an academic area of concentration under the mentorship of PCCM Faculty. Under the supervision of a Critical Care attending physician who evaluates, treats, manages inpatient care, documents medical findings in EPIC, provides support to patients, families and colleagues, collaborates with administration and nursing staff. Will diagnose and treat various conditions. Responsible for the direct care and follow- up in a defined inpatient area. Order labs, testing, as appropriate. Maintains working knowledge of electronic medical record. The role will also include off-shift responsibility that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as determined by the clinical needs of the practice environment.
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, legal, regulatory and clinical standards and requirements including (but not limited to): HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, DOH and CLIA. May represent CHOP with external organizations, professional associations upon request.
What you will do
- Direct Clinical Activities
- Serve as a frontline provider for critically ill children within the PICU, managing complex cases and leading resuscitations.
- Provide direct patient care, including performing procedures, such as intubations, central line placements, and arterial line placement.
- Lead and manage critically ill pediatric patients, coordinating care across multidisciplinary teams, including consultants from various specialties.
- Work closely with nursing staff, RTs, PCCM attendings, fellows, and residents to ensure the highest standard of care.
- Engage in daily rounds and provide ongoing assessments of critically ill children, including both short-term and long-term management strategies.
- Participate in the management of high-acuity cases at both the Philadelphia (75 bed unit) and King of Prussia (14 bed unit) campuses.
- Opportunity for acting attending/direct provider hybrid role at KOPH Campus for interested individuals
- Opportunity for advanced clinical responsibility & supervision of critical care team during overnight shifts at the PHL campus in partnership with the CCM faculty.

- Other Duties As Assigned.
- Division-specific privileges as prescribed by the Division in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws.
Education Qualifications
- Doctorate Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Required
Experience Qualifications
- Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Required
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of hospital policies, practices and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines. Knowledge of computer systems and applications. (Required proficiency)
- Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, decision-making. (Required proficiency)
- Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. (Required proficiency)
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic). (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Medical License - Pennsylvania State Medical Board - upon hire - Required and
- DEA License - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
- Medical Board Certification - Pediatrics - The American Board of Pediatrics. Board Certification is set in compliance with Department / Division and Medical Staff Bylaws (either immediately or within a prescribed timeframe from date of appointment to the Medical Staff) - upon hire - Required and
- Medical Board Certification/Eligibility - Pediatric Critical Care Medicine - The American Board of Pediatrics - upon hire - Required

$36,279.00 - $678,760.00 Annually
