The Director, Strategy will serve as a strategic partner to the President and CEO and the Executive Council, including advisorship, strategic alignment and executional integration across ATI, operational efficiency and process optimization, and overall operating support.

This role reports to the Chief Transformation Officer and is inherently flexible, taking a central role in projects that are of top strategic priority for the company. The person will lead strategic initiatives, organize, and interpret incoming data, evaluate, and review ongoing initiatives, articulate and define strategy. The Director will analyze business trends, monitor competitive landscapes, and contribute to the overall strategic goals of the organization to significantly impact the business and its ability to serve customers. This role requires a seasoned leader who can work seamlessly across a complex matrix and with senior leadership and departments to influence decisions, lead key initiatives, and identify new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities



  • Strategic Planning: Lead the formulation and execution of the company's enterprise and business unit strategies. Partner with executives to define business goals, priorities, and performance metrics.
  • Business Transformation & Innovation: Lead or support initiatives that transform the business model, optimize operational performance, and innovate new business lines.
  • Market Analysis & Insights: Analyze industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to inform strategic initiatives and identify growth opportunities. Provide actionable insights to senior leadership and business units.
  • M&A and Partnership Strategy: Evaluate potential divestitures, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and joint ventures. Support due diligence processes, integration efforts, and post-acquisition strategy alignment.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with finance, marketing, operations, and other departments to align on strategic priorities and drive execution. Ensure the strategic direction is consistently communicated and executed across the organization.
  • Executive Communication: Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations, reports, and analysis to the CEO, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders. Effectively communicate the company's strategy and strategic initiatives both internally and externally.
  • Performance Monitoring: Evaluate, improve, and drive the management operating system for ATI, including MBRs, AOP, and STRAP. Develop frameworks to track and report on the performance of strategic initiatives and operational health. Use data and establish/prioritize KPIs to measure success and identify areas for improvement. Partner with Digital Technology to operationalize dashboards and leverage to drive insights and actions for performance improvement.
  • Risk Management: Anticipate strategic risks and help mitigate potential challenges to the company's long-term success.

  • Deep knowledge of financial analysis, modeling, and business forecasting, with expertise in market research, competitive analysis, and business intelligence.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Must be comfortable working, and in some cases providing direction to senior leaders. Must be equally comfortable on the manufacturing floor and willing to travel to sites for full business, people, and culture understanding and impact.
  • Proven track record in value-based leadership and driving culture change within large organizations.
  • The ability to persevere in the face of challenges and exhibit a steadfast resolve and relentless commitment to higher standards, which commands respect from followers.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred


Experience



  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, corporate development, or management consulting
  • 3+ years in a leadership role within a public company, in a senior strategy or corporate development capacity preferred
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing and/or industrial preferred
