DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities. Your duties will include repairing and installing doors, door frames, furniture, electric circuits, outlets, lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, sinks, water closets, fountains, lavatories, and related equipment. Additionally, you will be in charge of maintaining and repairing heating lines and fan coil units, as well as performing masonry work on buildings, foundations, walkways, and walls. You will also handle tasks such as repairing and installing locks on doors and furniture; performing minor repairs on equipment such as wheel chairs, geriatric chairs, and beds; and maintaining the grounds by performing landscaping activities. Furthermore, you will be responsible for snow removal using equipment such as plows, salt spreaders, snowblowers, and shovels to ensure the safety and functionality of the building and its surroundings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience in commercial carpentry
  • Experience working in the electrical trade field
  • Experience in the plumbing trade
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems
  • Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
