Description

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Coaching & Development Advisor to join our team! This position will provide coaching, training, and guidance to enhance management and leadership skills for new and existing managers. Support managers by providing resources and tools to heighten focus on enhancing their team members' onboarding experience and career development opportunities. Work with others across the Talent Development & Engagement team to support skill building for managers and their teams across multiple forums.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Creation and facilitation of content for the Leadership Experience Ascend path programming across the organization. Provide Ascend participants coaching throughout the cohort.
  • Provide coaching & guidance to managers before, during, and after the recruitment and onboarding process to ensure positive on-boarding experience for new hires. This includes positively impacting team member retention and measuring performance of onboarding efforts, as well as managing the new hire Ambassador Program.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to assess needs and provide customized coaching to support manager and team member development objectives as it relates to team member performance as defined by goals, competencies, and contributions to projects.
  • Focus on helping team members to develop skills and expertise that align with the needs of the organization and business objectives of teams/departments, as well as the professional development goals of the individual team member.
  • Assist Human Resource Business Partners by providing support and resources for team member development across lines of business.
  • Support on-going development of managers by scheduling and facilitating training focused on leadership and management development.
  • Conduct needs analysis and collaborate with Talent Development & Engagement partners and lines of business development efforts to design and implement training programs, performance support tools, and key resources for team members, as needed.
  • Host or deliver other training, on an as-needed basis, to support the overall objectives of the Talent Development & Engagement Team.


To be successful in this position, we require the following:



  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of five (5) years in Leadership Development, Coaching, Learning & Development, or Consulting.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation and travel throughout the company's geographic footprint.


The following would be a plus:



  • Bachelor's degree in education, business or related field.
  • Coaching certification/credential (e.g. ICF, iPEC, etc.).
  • Banking background.
  • Experience facilitating training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
