SUMMARY:


We are looking for an experienced Operational Accounting Manager who willbe responsible for establishing and maintaining accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for business operations with an understanding of GAAP. Position offers variety and includes Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting, General Ledger, Investor Relations, Budgeting & Forecasting, Treasury and Information Systems. The successful candidate must be a very strong accountant that also strives for process improvement and excellence with minimal supervision. This position could entail managing direct reports. This position must be able to interact well with other teams throughout the business to ensure all accounting-related activities for these functions are properly accounted for, documented, effectively tied into our process models along with updates to any of our current compliance registers.


Accounting Responsibilities Include:



  • Recording, reconciling, and reporting transactions within the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, schedules and analysis for the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare account analyses with month-to-month changes and year-to-year changes supported and explained.
  • Prepare financial reports for Senior Management.
  • Answer questions from Senior Management and internal and external auditors and provide support in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Prepare and analyze reports, records, and financial data.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc requests, as needed.
  • Analyzing data collected and recording and reporting upon results.
  • Process, distribute, and review incoming sales orders; generate and submit invoices to customers for payment; prepare deposits and post cash receipts; process credit card sales; update and submit monthly reports on various ongoing projects for all divisions.
  • Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities, and actively collect on past due accounts as needed.
  • Assist with the monthly close process and preparation of financial statements and analysis, including bank reconciliation, journal entries, and reports.
  • Assist with monthly sales tax reporting. Monthly use tax reporting.
  • Review, edit and post daily labor transactions, material issues from inventory to manufacturing WTs and projects and receipt of purchased goods for manufacturing.
  • Collaborates with operations on best practices and cost saving initiatives
  • Responsible for all cash management & daily cash forecasting functions
  • Help coordinate the annual audit/review, bank audits. A contact for external and internal auditor requirements
  • Manage, mentor, and train employees
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance

  • Advanced MS Excel skills and knowledge of spreadsheets, including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Ability to excel within tight time constraints and rapid turnaround situations.
  • Strong analytical ability, good organization skills and excellent time management skills while also being a self-starter.
  • Continuously seeks opportunities to enhance knowledge within accounting and financial matters.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Must have familiarity with the accounts receivable lifecycle including sales orders, credit approvals, invoicing, collections, and payment processing


Proven Working experience as an Accounting Manager:



  • 8+ years of progressive accounting & financial management experience in a related field and/or public accounting environment
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA or CMA is a plus but not required
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with creating and closing financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Broad-based accounting operations experience in general and cost accounting, financial analysis, fixed asset accounting, receivables, payables, tax, audit, and legal compliance functions.
  • High level of financial acumen and business operations understanding required
  • Strategy and planning skills - demonstrated ability to proactively plan along with project management skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage projects and deadlines with limited supervision
  • Demonstrable passion as a hands-on leader with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to adjust strategies and realign priorities in a continually changing environment
  • Collaborative and analytical thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels in the organization, and a willingness to share information
