We have an Instrument and Controls Technician position available in Richmond, VA. This position is responsible for design and systems integration involving PLC/RTU/HMI/SCADA equipment and software, control panels, telemetry, instrumentation and measurement devices (I&C equipment).

Major Responsibilities



  • Implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery that meet our client's requirements
  • Installation, testing, calibration and tuning of standardized I&C Equipment and final control elements
  • Setup and testing of motor controls and variable speed drives
  • Ability to travel up to 90%


Minimum Requirements

Education An Associate's Degree in Industrial Control and Instrumentation Technology, Computer and Electronics Engineering Technology or Electrical and Instrumentation Technology is required. In place of an associate's degree 8 plus years of experience in an electrical technical role in an industrial setting will be considered.

Experience Three plus years with capabilities in the areas below:



  • PLC/RTU/HMI hardware/software platforms such Rockwell Automation, Fisher ROC, Siemens, Modicon
  • Instrumentation from Rosemont, E&H, etc.
  • Final control element such as motorized valves and other actuators
  • Measurement systems from Emerson, ABB and Omni
  • Experience in industries such as Data Centers, Oil and Gas, Mining, Food and Beverage, and Life Sciences
  • Experience with electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels and associated NEC references


Physical Demands of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, ability to mount and dismount equipment, pushing, pulling, warm and cold temperature conditions, sun exposure, moisture, potential exposure to hazardous materials and electrical voltages.

Working Environment On-site environment could require work in various temperature conditions; in and/or around moisture, on slippery and/or uneven surfaces, in confined spaces, and at heights; will require frequent standing, occasional bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, balancing, and reaching; will have exposure to noise, vibrations and chemicals. May require irregular or extended hours, subject to being on call and travel for project completion.
