Warehouse Receiving Supervisor

Location: Dayton. Ohio

The Warehouse Supervisor position is responsible for the efficient coordination of team members aiming to maintain the efficiency of receiving, storing, testing, inventory and shipping products in a continuous improvement-based environment, while also creating and maintaining a safe work environment. This is to be accomplished through directing and monitoring the activities of employees; effective leadership, coaching and development of individuals; and through building team dynamics targeting receiving, storing, testing, inventory and shipping techniques.

Your seat at the table

The Warehouse Supervisor position is accountable for the efficient coordination of team members aiming to maintain the efficiency of receiving practices, material storage, onsite distribution and the delivery of performance results, through effective execution in directing and monitoring of all manufacturing warehouse functions and leading and developing team members:



  • Supervises and monitors the activities of employees working in all Manufacturing Warehouse Areas
  • Ensures that behaviors, practices and the work environment support a safe workplace by enforcing safety and sanitation rules and principles
  • Ensures and monitors receiving, storage and distribution efficiency
  • Utilizes metrics/data to evaluate and improve Receiving, Storage and Distribution methods/standards
  • Inspects Receiving and Material Storage processes to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Develops and implements receiving, storing, inventory and distribution improvement plans
  • Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet performance standards
  • Translates schedules to receiving, storing, and distribution requirements
  • Utilizes standard work processes to ensure repeatable performance
  • Monitors goals and levels to make sure they are consistent with performance standards
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
  • Tracks employees' work performance and attendance to ensure performance metrics are met
  • Directs employees involved in the receiving, material storage, inventory and distributing processes
  • Recognize what to do in the event of an injury or incident
  • Plans, develops, and implements warehouse safety and security programs and activities
  • Ensures that behaviors, practices and the work environment support a safe workplace by enforcing safety and sanitation rules and principles.


Leads and Develops Team Members



  • Coaches team members on a daily basis in the principles of effective work procedures in the manufacturing warehouse
  • Leads the team through an emphasis on both process and people
  • Communicates effectively with employees through both oral and written means
  • Conducts employee training to improve employees' expertise and knowledge in equipment operations, work safety procedures, and teamwork, or assigns employee training to experienced workers
  • Provides feedback to employees on individual performance standards in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provides training to employees or ensures that all employees are adequately trained and engaged in developmental activities
  • Builds rapport and collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams


What you bring to the table



  • 4 year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a warehouse management or supervision role, preferably in the food processing industry
  • Knowledge of basic and advanced methods of training and coaching individuals and groups
  • Knowledge of techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Decision-making skills
