Auxiliary Equipment Manager

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the equipment owned and/or rented by the company. This is a Monday through Friday job and off on weekends, but you will be required to answer phone calls on weekends.

This position is under the direct supervision of the Technical Manager for equipment-related issues and the Project Manager for logistic and project-related issues

  • Maintain inventory of all pieces of equipment assigned to the dredge, and their locations, at all times
  • Maintain a budget for vessels under your Management.
  • Work with Mechanics, Electricians, and the Preventive Maintenance Manager, to input work orders into the Fiix CMMS system to request repair spare parts, critical spares, PM, and CM services, as well as budget and request equipment for upgrades of the Auxiliary Equipment.
  • Manage and oversee the repair and maintenance program for all Auxiliary Equipment on site.
  • Maintain all equipment in good operating condition and ensure repairs are completed on time.
  • Keep inventory of critical spares.
  • Requisition spare parts and supplies.
  • Track and requisition technical consumables, lube, and water for equipment on site.
  • Monitor all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components on the Auxiliary Equipment.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations regarding equipment condition and interface.
  • Ensure Auxiliary Equipment is maintained in accordance with the maintenance program.
  • Help coordinate logistics for needed repairs and upgrades.
  • Keep and update all Class and ABS documentation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The employee must have:

  • 15 years of Equipment Repair and Maintenance
  • Equipment management
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong communicator, both verbal and written
  • Strong mentoring skills
  • Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to travel and work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations
  • Must be reliable and motivated
  • Ability to obtain TWIC
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
  • Competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results-driven

PREFERRED SKILLS

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hats, safety glasses, life vests, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and the location where the work is being done.

In addition, an Auxiliary Equipment Manager must also be capable of:

  • Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
  • Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and/or for long periods of time.
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs individually. Anything greater than 30lbs and up to 60lbs will require additional lifting means.
  • Must be able to push and pull at a peak force of 150lbs.
  • Climbing stairs and/or vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.
  • Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights.
  • Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
