Internship Overview/Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for providing advanced data and analytics support for all business units across the corporation and works on medium complex cross-functional analytics solutions and multiple, participates in work stream planning including inception, design, development, testing and delivery of analytic solutions, may participate in project management estimation, develops demand forecasts, works with BI and Data Analysts to understand customer needs and has a moderate impact on operations, resources and the corporation's reputation.

Internship Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes business and functional requirements and translates these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions. Collects, analyzes and shares data to help business teams drive improvement in key business metrics, customer experience and business results.
  • Utilizes database and web application technologies to design, develop and evaluate innovative business intelligence tools and automated reports. Designs, develops and tests analytic solutions such as databases, data warehouses, queries and views, reports and dashboards. Performs data conversions, imports and exports of data within and between internal and external software systems.
  • Merges analytic platforms with enterprise systems and applications. Enhances the performance of business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and indexes. Documents new and existing models, solutions and implementations.
  • Tracks, monitors and analyzes performance and production issues and implements improvements. Supports and helps manage external resources such as service providers and vendor support. Ensures the collected data is within required quality standards.
  • Troubleshoots analytic tools, systems, and software. Troubleshoots reported data loads or reconciliation inconsistencies in conjunction with the sites for data models and/or reports.
  • Maintains the quality of Metadata Repository by adding, modifying and deleting data. Provides input to the development of data/information quality metrics. Provides input and adheres to process, policies and standards. Conducts research and makes recommendations on analytics products and services. Interfaces with vendors to keep abreast of new technologies, pricing and customer applicability.
  • Analyzes and tests new releases/versions of software. Participates in vendor evaluations.
  • Performs regular assignments using own judgment. Determines methods and procedures on new projects, is held accountable for end results, is responsible for determining when supervisor or others should be consulted and has discretion to make decisions within the scope of their responsibilities. Complex assignments are occasionally reviewed upon completion.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

Position Overview:

Possible positions include key support areas such as Finance, Marketing, HR, Project Mgmt. and Accounting.

Primary Responsibilities:
Learn aggressively: Be open to new ideas and concepts, ask questions and be intellectually curious. Opportunities are based on assigned department, possible examples include organizational structures, business etiquette, interpersonal/conflict resolution/sales/negotiation skills, industry information, products and services and functional responsibilities for various Bank departments.

Analyze: Improve the quality of decision making by doing appropriate and thorough analysis. Potential examples are based on the department assigned but can include pricing decisions, financial analysis, qualitative analysis, credit risk mitigation, identifying borrowing needs, project timelines and marketing plans.

Communicate well: Deliver information in a clear, logical and effective manner. Convey information both in writing and orally. Flex style to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group and large-group settings. Possible examples include business meetings, sales calls, training sessions, email communication and conference calls.

Display Teamwork: Work well with others to achieve group goals. Willing to leverage the experiences of members to generate improved results and maximum performance. Lead and follow with effectiveness. Willing to voice dissent and ask difficult questions. Listen, to learn. Examples include department or Intern projects.

Flexible to change course to improve outcomes and results. Understand the criticalness of quality-output. Meet deadlines, getting things done on time and under budget. Possible examples will be numerous in virtually every department in the Bank.

Complete project assignments in conjunction with rotations and work with appropriate oversight to complete. Learn to accomplish objectives by developing and prioritizing actions steps and establishing and communicating the work plan to the appropriate participants.
