Who we are and what we do:

The Mission of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is to preserve, conserve, manage, protect, and enhance the fish and wildlife of the state and their habitats for the use, benefit, and enjoyment of the citizens of Tennessee and its visitors. The Agency will foster the safe use of the state's waters through a program of law enforcement, education, and access. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has come a long way since it was established in 1949 and was called the Game and Fish Commission. Completely reorganized in 1974, it now consists of more than 700 professionals dedicated to the preservation, conservation, and enhancement of Tennessee's fish and wildlife for the enjoyment of all Tennesseans and our visitors.

Job Overview:

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is seeking applicants for the position of Auditor 3. This position reports to the Director of Internal Audit in the Internal Audit department. This role is an executive service role.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts operational or program audits to evaluate program efficiency and effectiveness. Examines organizational structure, managerial practices, policies and procedures and record-keeping procedures. Plans and executes financial, compliance, operational and/or special investigation reports in accordance with applicable IIA Red Book standards. Develops and executes analytical procedures to identify unusual, abnormal, or otherwise relevant transactions or activity. Prepares audit narrative reports and work papers to identify legal, financial and/or administrative problems and recommends possible improvements. Assist with the creation of Internal Audit policy and procedure documentation and annual audit report. Trains staff on new audit policies and processes. Evaluates current policies and procedures to ensure agencies adherence. Assists with the coordination, facilitation, and review of the annual departmental risk assessment in accordance with the Financial Integrity Act. Evaluates potential risks and develops methods for minimizing or alleviating the risk.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a Public Accountant in good standing and experience equivalent to three years of full-time increasingly responsible professional auditing work.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree including thirty-six quarter hours in accounting and experience equivalent to three years of full-time increasingly responsible professional auditing work.

OR

A Certified Public Accountant with the State of Tennessee and experience equivalent to two years of full-time increasingly responsible professional auditing work. Additional graduate coursework in business administration with a major in accounting may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of one year. For this executive service position, the acceptable minimum qualifications are determined by the appointing authority.
