DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL Department of Disability and Aging West Tennessee Homes Arlington, TN Salary: $16.46 Hourly Part-Time Closing Date: 09/10/2025

Background Check:

The Department of Disability and Aging supports people to live the lives they envision for themselves by ensuring people can exercise rights, engage with the community and experience optimal health. At DDA, we are responsible for administration and oversight of services and supports for more than 1.5 million older adults and Tennesseans with disabilities.

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for performing direct care work

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implements Person Centered Support Plans as written by the person served and their support system and performs Person Centered Care for persons supported including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, active treatment inside and outside of the home, and other person focused care.
  • Maintains personal property of people supported including, but not limited to, assessing the condition of the property, and helping persons make decisions on what they want to do with their property when they no longer need or want it.
  • Utilizes custom positioning equipment as outlined in person-centered support plans.
  • Maintains ICF/IID and/or residential home in a safe manner by cleaning routinely, checking on equipment and furniture to ensure things are in good working order, and keeping exits free from blockage for safe evacuations.
  • Plans for emergencies to ensure persons supported remain safe and practices safety drills routinely to ensure safety of persons supported at all times. Ensures supplies are adequately stocked to support people supported.
  • Completes training assigned within stated timelines.
  • Utilizes standard appliances and equipment such as, but not limited to: Microwave, Range with Oven, Dishwasher, Washer and Dryer, Bathing Equipment, and Mechanical Lifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.

NSQs:

  • Complete a background check in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance.
