We're looking for an experienced AI Software Engineer with 6-8 years of experience to join our AI applications team. This is a fully remote position for candidates in the continental U.S., with work hours aligned to the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone. You will be instrumental in the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design to final delivery, creating AI-powered software products that aid military commanders and business leaders in making mission-critical decisions. The ideal candidate will have exceptional algorithmic and problem-solving skills, and a strong background in software engineering, enabling them to make an immediate impact on our projects. Responsibilities
Collaborative Design & Implementation: You will collaboratively design, implement, and test decision support and simulation software. This role involves leveraging cutting-edge technologies, including AI and machine learning components.
Modular Systems Development: Develop modular systems within a distributed architecture, such as with RESTful containerized microservices.
Performance Optimization: Review and analyze software runtime performance, making algorithmic and performance improvements.
Agile Development: Use agile development techniques throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience: 6-8 years of experience in software development, including design, coding, testing, and delivery.
Core Skills: You should have mastery in object-oriented design and programming, as well as knowledge of design patterns and algorithmic analysis.
Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python is a must, and experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or C++ is also required.
Software Tools: Mastery with essential software development tools, including distributed version control like Git, build frameworks such as Gradle, Maven, or CMake, and unit test frameworks like JUnit or Python unittest.
GenAI: Experience building applications leveraging LLMs as a core component
Work Environment: Experience working in a small, remote team environment is preferred.
Government Clearance: You must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. government security clearance (Secret Clearance).
Bonus Experience
AI/ML: Exposure to AI and/or Machine Learning technologies is a plus.
Google Cloud Platform: Experience using and deploying technologies onto GCP, existing GCP credentials, and familiarity with VertexAI.
Specialized Knowledge: Experience with discrete event simulation, geospatial and/or temporal databases, and performing scientific evaluations and comparisons is highly valued.
Technical Familiarity: Familiarity with technologies such as Docker, Node, and FastAPI is a bonus. Experience with database systems, including SQL, NoSQL databases, and ORMs, is also beneficial.
Engineering Practices: Knowledge of Kanban Workflow, GitFlow, and other related software engineering practices is a plus
