Summary of Job Duties:The Department Procurement Coordinator is responsible for performing procurement activities for various trades within Campus Operations. These activities directly support the repair and maintenance of the Medical, Educational, and Research facilities on the UAMS Campus with a focus on purchasing, contract processing, audit, control and database maintenance. This position is responsible for creating purchase requisitions for materials and service and responsible in assisting in the management of the inbound and outbound materials and supplies, managing the delivery process of medical supplies or services and the placement and delivery of purchase orders. Incumbents are expected to have business office experience; substantial desktop business applications skills such as Excel; knowledge of transaction processing in an integrated enterprise management system environment, and the interpersonal skills necessary to foster the cooperation of technical and non-technical staff. Incumbents are expected to fulfill their responsibilities with limited supervision while maintaining effective communications with the Manager of Materials Management. Incumbents are responsible for communicating major and non-routine transactions to their Manager prior to execution. These duties are vital to the safety, comfort, and general wellbeing of patients, students and employees. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • Associate's degree in business administration, Accounting or related field of study with 4 years business specific experience -OR- High School Diploma/GED with 6 years business specific experience.
  • Warehouse, purchasing or facilities experience; education in lieu of experience may be accepted.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral instruction, to read and to write.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic business math calculations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices for procurement and contracting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and database management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, with management at all levels within the organization, with vendors, customers and clients and with peers across the industry.
  • Valid driver's License with fewer than 12 points on their Motor Vehicle Record.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting or related field of study.
  • 2 years of business specific experience in the public sector and procurement or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer program proficiency level: Intermediate.
