The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra - You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Advanced Manufacturing Manager - Advanced Development & Initiatives.

Job Summary

The Manager, Advanced Development and Initiatives, Advanced Manufacturing, will lead and manage the portfolio of advanced development projects along with other operational and organizational initiatives.

This role will collaborate with all functions within the Global Advanced Manufacturing organization, including engineering, manufacturing operations, global supply chain, quality, and other functions, based on the scope of the projects, and will report to the General Manager of the Global Advanced Manufacturing Organization.

The Manager, Advanced Development and Initiatives, Advanced Manufacturing, is responsible for driving the advancement of capabilities in manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment that enable the transformation of manufacturing processes for new product development.

Key Job Responsibilities:



  • Strategy & Leadership:

    • Support the development and execution of the Global Advanced Manufacturing strategy.
    • Develop a portfolio management process for prioritization of advanced development and digital tools projects that enable the organization's strategy.
    • Lead cross-functional teams in the development and deployment of new capabilities and processes.
    • Utilize broad expertise in product development and supply chain to evolve the role and organization continuously.


  • External Capability Development:

    • Enable product development efficiency by identifying and leveraging supply base development expertise in new manufacturing process capabilities.
    • Partner with commodity teams to identify and develop new capabilities and fill critical voids in the supply base.
    • Participate in the assessment of supplier technical and commercial capabilities.
    • Assist in the establishment of design and development relationships with key suppliers in key areas of differentiation and technology.


  • Project Management:

    • Lead project management activities related to advanced development and innovation within Global Advanced Manufacturing.
    • Lead projects from concept through deployment, ensuring timely delivery and ROI.
    • Develop and manage roadmaps, budgets, and resource plans for advanced development and initiative projects.
    • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and external vendors.


  • Knowledge Management, Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

    • Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and engineering to identify and address systemic causes, implementing lasting solutions in processes and tools to prevent the recurrence of development issues.
    • Lead the development and implementation of resource planning across advanced manufacturing functions and locations.
    • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and best practices for advanced development, digital tool development, and knowledge management.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization through digital technologies.





Education Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Required


Education Specifications



  • Master's degree in engineering is preferred.



Experience Requirements
Required



  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience in product development and supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a group and/or team and provide guidance to other employees.


Preferred



  • Proven experience in product development, engineering, and supplier management
  • Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, change management, and supplier development.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
