Responsible for the collection, entry, maintenance, and reporting of data for the Trauma Center as required by appropriate regulatory agencies. Utilizes analytical, cognitive, and leadership skills, the registrar shall utilize the collected trauma data for injury research, epidemiology, prevention initiatives and performance improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Obtain Certified Trauma Registrar Certification Certification through the American Trauma Society.
2. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
EXPERIENCE:
1. One (1) year Trauma Registry or Health Information Management experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Identifies trauma patients that meet inclusion criteria for the trauma registry from daily logs of the emergency department, operating room, and hospital admissions.
2. Abstracts from the trauma patient medical record accurate information for the Trauma Registry in a timely manner.
3. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data from all available patient information systems.
4. Reconciles missing or conflicting data and coordinates with outside agencies to obtain medical records when appropriate.
5. Collects, enters, and submits data to the state as required.
6. Generates a monthly dashboard, monthly routine reports, annual reports, and responds to special requests for statistical information.
7. Participates as an integral member of the Trauma Committee.
8. Attends and participates in the regional and state trauma meetings and completes registry specific training as available.
9. Participates in professional development to assure skills and knowledge of trauma data information.
10. Assumes primary responsibility for accurate and concurrent trauma registry data. Reviews and validates trauma registry data regularly.
