Temple University's Central Animal Facilities department is searching for a Senior Vet Tech! Full medical, dental, and vision coverage Position Summary The incumbent will work independently and in teams in overall management of the ULAR animal colonies, as well as maintain work areas and provide support for research personnel. They will provide preventive health and perioperative care with accompanying record keeping. They will provide instruction to research technicians and students as required. They will be involved in the planning, executing, and analyzing data from ULAR-generated research projects. They will perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Required Skills and Abilities Demonstrated proficiency with anesthesia monitoring, anesthesia machines, ventilators/respirators, autoclaves, and surgical tools. Ability to work in an environment containing laboratory animals that may be infected with biohazardous organisms, carcinogens, and other potentially harmful agents. Animals may also harbor naturally occurring infectious agents. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others, understanding that organization and team goals may take precedence over individual goals. Ability to maintain a proficient level of technical and professional skills and knowledge in job-related areas. Ability to communicate quickly and effectively in verbal and written forms.
