Position Overview

The Sr. Medical Information Specialist serves as the frontline subject matter expert in the creation of internal educational medical content and workflow management and implementation of the medical inquiry/unsolicited medical request (UMR) process for the Screening Business Unit. This role requires an adept ability to synthesize scientific content and communicate information to health care providers in response to UMRs.

This role require onsite work in Madison, WI.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the frontline specialist for engaging healthcare provider and/or delegate customers in clinical dialogue that results from medical inquiries through the sales, provider support, and Medical Affairs teams.
  • Utilize appropriate information resources to provide timely, accurate, thorough and balanced responses to unsolicited requests for information from internal and external customers in accordance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines (i.e., PhRMA, AdvaMed).
  • Compiles concise and impactful medical materials (e.g., medical perspective resources, evidence summaries, Standard Medical Letters (SMLs), FAQs, background materials) that prepare and empower internal teams for scientific engagement.
  • Provides internal stakeholders with rapid written medical perspectives on high-impact emerging evidence which helps inform cross-functional strategies and tactics.
  • Liaises with the Medical Training team to ensure planning and pull-through of medical material launches (e.g., medical perspective resources, evidence summaries, slides).
  • Evaluate literature databases for relevant and sound scientific literature to support fulfillment of medical information requests.
  • Document healthcare provider interactions with the appropriate detail in the designated database (i.e., VeevaCRM).
  • Manage Medical Information workflows and ensure adherence and quality assurance to SOPs and business process documents.
  • Contribute to maintenance of associated business process documents and tracking of KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Medical Information colleagues and the larger Medical Education, Communication, and Training Team to ensure that all clinical information and product information is harmonized and consistent.
  • Lead or assist in execution of formal or informal Medical training, within the department or to support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Identify emerging medical inquiry topics as well as inquiries for which standard responses do not exist and raise awareness to Medical Affairs and Laboratory leadership (i.e., identify needs for future standard responses).
  • Contribute to Medical Affairs strategy by identifying business relevant insights through customer engagement activity.
  • Assist in the maintenance of key resource documents for the Medical Affairs team, including, but not limited to, project trackers/dashboards, databases, and medical content.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize assigned workload and employ efficient time management strategies when performing medical information activities.
  • Complete all assigned trainings and professional development requirements.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD/PharmD/MD/DO; or MS plus 4 years of experience in lieu of PhD/PharmD/MD/DO; or BSN or BS in Life Sciences and 6 years of experience in related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in medical affairs, medical information, or related field.
  • Experience in medical writing and/or information management.
  • Demonstrated competence using information technology to include MS WORD, MS PPT, MS EXCEL, PCs, and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GI or oncology experience.
  • Previous medical information experience.

Salary Range:

$89,000.00 - $151,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
