*Overview:* We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Coding Specialist II to support automation initiatives within our Business Office. This contract role is critical to ensuring accurate and compliant coding practices across inpatient and outpatient services. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in medical coding, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to excellence. *Key Responsibilities:* * Review inpatient and outpatient medical records for documentation, abstracting, and analysis. * Assign diagnosis and procedural codes to the highest level of specificity using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS. * Apply modifiers, CCI edits, and medical policy rules (LCD/NCD) in compliance with payer regulations. * Research and resolve coding-related issues using EPIC Charge Review Work Queue functionality. * Collaborate with Clinical Auditors to identify improvement opportunities and provide guidance to providers. * Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies. * Ensure secure handling of protected health information. * Consistently meet productivity and quality standards (95%+ accuracy). * Perform charge entry and resolve coding-related denials. * Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive team culture. * Collect and analyze coding-related data for training or presentation purposes. * Demonstrate initiative in improving quality and customer service. *Qualifications:* * High School Diploma or GED required. * Completion of a nationally recognized coding program (AHIMA/AAPC). * Active certification: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC. * Minimum 3 years of professional medical coding experience. * Proficiency in EPIC systems. * Strong understanding of coding guidelines, modifiers, CCI edits, HCPCS, LCD/NCDs, and payer regulations. * Ability to code complex procedural cases with precision. *Why Join Us?* This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project focused on automation and operational efficiency.
