Position Summary:
As a Commissioning and Start-Up Technician at Coperion, you will be the face of our company at customer sites across North and South America, as well as overseas. Your role is to support the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Coperion equipment. You will provide technical expertise, guidance, and training to customers and internal teams, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. By delivering exceptional service and building long-term customer relationships, you will help shape what matters for tomorrow.

Sign-on Bonus: $3,000 (Paid after 90 days)

Location: Can be home-based anywhere within US with the requirement of being within 1 hour of an international airport.

Travel: This role requires extensive travel to customer sites. Due to the nature of start-ups and installation of large scale equipment, trips to customer sites may be 1-4 weeks, potentially longer depending on needs. (Per Diem, Overtime, Company Credit Card, Paid Travel Expenses.)

Work You'll Do:

Customer Support & Field Activities:

  • Represent Coperion as a senior technical resource, assisting with equipment installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell or upsell equipment and solutions during customer interactions.
  • Support the installation, inspection, commissioning, and maintenance of gearboxes, lube oil systems, drive components, process sections, downstream equipment (pelletizers, gear pumps), and electrical systems (PLC controls, VFDs, Ethernet communication).
  • Assist customers with start-up of newly installed equipment and train their personnel on operation and maintenance.
  • When not traveling, provide on-call support via phone, email, or video call to address customer issues promptly.

Technical & Field Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs on large capital equipment, always following safety policies and standards.
  • Assist with electrical and control system installation, including wiring PLCs, configuring VFDs, and Ethernet communication.
  • Keep detailed, accurate records of all field activities, service reports, and customer interactions, submitting them in a timely manner.
  • Participate in classroom or hands-on training sessions to continually improve your technical skills.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Work in strict accordance with all Coperion safety policies and customer safety regulations, including drug and alcohol policies.
  • Prioritize safety in all activities to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.

Administrative & Additional Tasks:

  • Prepare and distribute detailed service reports and technical documentation.
  • Develop field information packages for internal teams or customers.
  • Support other duties as assigned, including team meetings and process improvement initiatives.

Team:

  • You will be part of the Aftermarket Sales and Service group, working closely with colleagues and customers to deliver high-quality service. Your role is essential in maintaining customer satisfaction and fostering long-term relationships that support the company's success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; technical training or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Field Service, assembly, or servicing large capital equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering reports, drawings, electrical prints, P&ID diagrams, and 3D CAD models.
  • Proficiency with standard hand tools and basic office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid passport and driver's license, with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 90%) and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Heavy electrical repair experience, including HMI, RS Logix 5000, RSView, Controllogix, Omron PLC/HMI, Allen Bradley, VFDs, AC/DC drives, and Ethernet networking.
  • Experience working with Material Handling systems is highly preferred.
  • Degree in construction, project management, or a related technical field is a plus.
  • Experience working in international or multicultural environments.
