General Summary of Position
Greets, assists, and directs visitors, physicians, patients, and other hospital clients.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Answers telephones, screens and directs calls, handles inquiries, takes messages, provides information and schedules appointments if necessary. Provides support as necessary.
  • Assists associates, patients, visitors and other clients with paperwork. Answers questions, assists in problem solving of unmet needs and expedites solutions, as appropriate to position. Reports all problems which have not been resolved to the Director/Manager/Supervisor.
  • Monitors departmental supplies and requisitions.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
  • Performs clerical duties including operating standard office equipment such as calculators, personal computers, fax machines, photocopiers, and identification cameras.
  • Performs light typing duties for department as necessary.
  • Performs recordkeeping tasks.
  • Assures comfort of visitors by monitoring the waiting area temperature, cleanliness, reading material, and other environmental factors. Notifies appropriate department if assistance is needed. Escorts visitors to PACU, ICU, ASC, or inpatients unit as appropriate.
  • Communicates complaints/concerns voiced by visitors to the Patient Care Manager. Reports any potential risk issues.
  • Facilitates communications between patient care areas and Surgical Waiting Area. Keeps visitors informed of patient status. Explains visiting policy. Rounds to Phase 1 Recovery Area.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required or
    • equivalent. required

    Experience

    • Less than 1 year 6 months clerical or receptionist experience; public contact experience, preferably in healthcare setting required


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills preferred.

    This position has a hiring range of $18 - $28.73
