Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Surgical Technologist 1 to join the OR team. This role will be full-time working four 10 hour shifts (0645-1715) M-F, variable day off, on-call requirement for nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Responsibilities:
- The Surgical Technologist 1 demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, which includes passing instruments, sutures, and other items appropriate to the procedure.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the role of the first scrub on all basic surgical cases.
- Selects proper sterilization method of instruments/equipment; sterilizes before procedures, as necessary, and verifies instruments as sterile.
- Demonstrates the application of the principles of aseptic technique.
- Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Certification: Basic Life Support from American Heart Association required upon start.
- License: Registered Surgical Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Surgical Technologist required upon start
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience.
