Job Description:

Position Overview

Supervise and oversee day-to-day activities of the distribution center, ensuring department functions are carried out in an efficient and timely manner. Direct, supervise and coordinate logistics, and warehouse activities within the operations through effective leadership and strategic planning.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure on time delivery of goods by coordinating workflow, managing schedules and delegating tasks to direct reports as needed.
  • Monitor and create shipping schedules while adhering to the operational KPIs such On-Time Delivery, Past-Due Clearance, and Inventory Optimization.
  • Daily communication with Customer Service, Production Scheduling, Quality, Inventory Control, and Shipping & Receiving to ensure a steady flow of materials (both finished goods and raw materials).
  • Create standard work for the team on the picking, packaging, shipping, and returns processes.
  • Conduct cycle counts in accordance with the company policy and provide recurring updates on cycle count completion status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Monitor and control expenses according to allotted budget
  • Conduct daily meetings with employees to discuss departmental updates, metrics, and concerns
  • Responsible for the ongoing review and improvement of procedures of the department
  • Maintains vacation schedules for all their employees according to company guidelines
  • Manages timecard approval and time entry for direct reports
  • Leads, coaches and develops employees through performance review, providing feedback and coaching to improve performance deficiencies or concerns
  • Manage and identify opportunities to reduce operating costs
  • Drive initiatives within the department that contribute to long-term operational excellence
  • Oversee and drive achievement of distribution KPIs to include Safety, Quality and Customer Service
  • Support safety policies, procedures and training through initiative and accountability
  • Assist in the development of processes to achieve a zero-incident culture
  • Work cooperatively with other functional leaders to exceed the needs of the customer
  • Leads, coaches and develops employees through performance review, providing feedback and coaching to improve performance deficiencies or concerns
  • Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence
  • Implement continuous improvement throughout the organization using Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Ensures all processes in area comply with ISO 9001-2000, FDA and UL standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Language Capabilities

  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak)

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED is required.
  • Associates or bachelor's degree in business related field is highly preferred. May consider experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required. Union experience is highly preferred.
  • Must be able to work additional hours as needed including weekends to meet business needs.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities that enable associate to exhibit professional skills to deal with others and to create constructive working relationships.
  • Highly organized, self-starter who can take initiative upon themselves to prioritize, schedule and coordinate multiple activities and delegate tasks to the workforce.
  • Analytical skills to help identify opportunities for improvement or optimization of safety, quality, production, or other operational resources to aide in problem resolution.

Technical Requirements

  • Knowledge of ERP inventory and distribution management systems, JDE or SAP experience preferred
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative leadership style
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization

Mobility & Travel Requirements

  • 5% - 10% Travel required from Gettysburg to Hanover
