Velosity Forest Lake is searching for a Sr. Sustaining Quality Engineer to support our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN. The Sr. Sustaining Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting operations by managing and prioritizing customer related ECO's, corrective actions, MRBs, RMAs, Certificates of Conformance, problem solving and other related deliverables and methods to drive continual improvement of production processes. Advise on strategic quality plans to support long-term business objectives.

This is an on-site position.

The typical pay range for this role: $84,000 - $110,000. This role is also eligible for our 5% quarterly bonus target.

This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range.

Essential Duties:

  • Work cooperatively with all employees.
  • Develop, maintain, organize and update inspection plans and methods to achieve new or changing quality requirements and standards, document known/repeat quality issues and to ensure best practices are implemented.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategic quality plans to support long-term business objectives.
  • Review and approve production released Certificates of Conformance.
  • Drive continual improvement regarding procedures, workflow, process optimization, compliance to standards, and to ensure product quality.
  • Oversee complex root cause analyses and ensure implementation of robust corrective actions.
  • Manage quality related items for production released product for existing customers, initiate and manage Engineering changes and implement effective solutions to permanently address production related issues.
  • Act as a liaison between Engineering, Operations and customers.
  • Mentor junior quality engineers and provide guidance on best practices and professional development.
  • Support the operations team by providing quality insight and direction on quality related questions and issues.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in quality or equivalent experience.
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality engineering role with a minimum of one year in plastic injection molding.
  • Preferred leadership experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and project management skills; effective business correspondence and reporting; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and business operating systems; ability to make timely decisions, prioritize, influence and support production and quality employees.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of contract manufacturing processes; knowledge of print reading, including GD&T; knowledge of inspection methods, measuring equipment, i.e. CMM's, Vision systems etc. and validation protocols. Advanced knowledge of quality systems, standards, and methodologies.
  • To be able to perform daily tasks safely; to work independently with limited supervision; To be able to effectively apply problem solving techniques and work with customers, vendors and other departments; to manage multiple priorities.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Walking is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner (results oriented); Ability to make decisions with limited information.

Work Environment:

This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing shop with normal lighting and climate control. This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.

Protective Clothing Required:

When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
