Job Overview The Senior Analyst, Digital Performance Planning leads the site performance forecasting and analysis efforts for Macy's digital business. This role requires strong financial and analytical acumen to translate performance insights into actionable strategies that drive revenue and optimize the customer experience. The Senior Analyst partners closely with Site and Omni Merchandising, Marketing, Media, Integrated Planning, Finance, and Product/Tech to ensure traffic, conversion, and AOV plans align with business strategies and customer behaviors. This role is both highly analytical and highly collaborative, connecting the dots across marketing calendars, promotions, site execution, and customer journey metrics to influence senior leadership decisions. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact Macy's most critical performance levers, shape event and holiday forecasting processes, and lead continuous improvements in real-time site performance management. What You Will Do Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Lead the development and execution of top-side financial plans for the entire site and by family of business, focusing on key performance indicators like conversion rates, units-per-transaction, and funnel metrics.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Collaborate with the Marketing, Merchandising, and Product Management teams to align financial plans with traffic, conversion, and AOV plans, pricing strategies, and site enhancements.
- Conduct monthly forecasting, ensuring timely updates of financial projections based on current business trends and performance metrics to drive business results and enhance profitability.
- Provide detailed and comprehensive financial forecasts, facilitating informed decision-making processes.
- Manage intraday performance tracking during peak and promotional events, flagging risks/opportunities and proposing corrective actions in real time.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Build, automate, and maintain dashboards and reporting tools that monitor golden equation metrics and site performance.
- Utilize advanced financial planning tools and software to support data-driven decision-making.
- Present financial analysis and insights to senior management and cross-functional teams.
- Provide not just reporting, but root cause insights and actionable recommendations that influence digital and enterprise strategies.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Product Management & Product Analytics, and Finance teams to align financial plans with promotional events, tactics investments, site enhancements, and other key initiatives.
- Influence senior leadership by providing forward-looking scenarios, risks, and opportunity assessments tied to key business goals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on digital performance planning.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously identify opportunities to streamline forecasting processes, enhance accuracy, and enable faster business decisions.
- Implement best practices and new technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and financial performance.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for financial planning operations.
Skills You Will Need
- Advanced financial and analytical acumen, with expertise in forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning.
- Proficiency in Excel and SQL, with hands-on experience using BI/reporting tools such as Adobe Analytics, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Strong knowledge of e-commerce performance KPIs (traffic, conversion, AOV, AUR, UPT, bounce rates, funnel drop-offs).
- Proven ability to analyze performance in real time and adapt forecasts quickly in dynamic retail environments.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with experience influencing senior leadership.
- Strong collaboration skills; ability to connect cross-functional dots across Merchandising, Marketing, Media, and Product.
- Process improvement mindset, with a track record of driving adoption of new methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Attention to detail with the ability to zoom out to strategic insights.
- Comfort with ambiguity, urgency, and high-stakes decision-making during peak events.
