The 1ES (One Engineering System) team is responsible for enabling the world's best engineering teams with world-class tools and systems that help them ship products their customers love. With software development quickly evolving to serve both developers and the AI Agents they leverage, having reliable and efficient engineering systems is more critical than ever. We are seeking a Software Engineering II in the build team who will play a key role in enhancing developer productivity and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include accelerating large-scale builds for Microsoft's largest codebases by working on file monitoring, caching, distributed systems, scheduling algorithms, and resource optimization. Our team's products run on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Your tasks will span from low level eBPF programs to leveraging AI to perform analysis of large-scale data analysis of our engineering systems to steer future investments. ResponsibilitiesResponsibilitiesWorks with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.MS Culture & Values: Embody our Culture and Values. |
