DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will support the management of the congregate meal program across 16 centers. Your responsibilities will include delivering nutrition and sanitation training to all staff and volunteers to ensure adherence to current nutrition regulations. You will also create and suggest policies for the effective operation of 10 Senior Center Managers. Conducting site visits will be essential to verify compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

Additionally, you will participate in Area Agency on Aging meetings to promote program integration and assist senior center managers in organizing community-based initiatives. Monitoring contractor performance and overseeing centers to foster socialization programs that enhance the nutrition initiative will be part of your role. You will evaluate the quality of nutrition and social programs through advisory group meetings, consumer surveys, and on-site assessments. Furthermore, you will interview potential candidates, provide training for staff, and arrange nutritional counseling for seniors regarding dietary needs. Developing special diets or menus tailored to the aging population will also be part of your duties, along with preparing monthly program and budget reports as required by regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four (4) years of experience in a food service, social service or recreation program, including one (1) year in an administrative, supervisory or consultative capacity or two (2) years as a Senior Center Manager. College or business school may be substituted on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years for the general experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming County. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
