DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will collaborate closely with a Maintenance Repairman to acquire the essential skills necessary for safe and efficient practices in the field of Buildings and Grounds Maintenance. Your responsibilities will include assisting with or directly performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, which may encompass everything from minor fixes to more complex projects. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to operate both hand-pushed and riding lawn equipment, gaining hands-on experience that is vital for this trade. Once you demonstrate proficiency, you will be trained to use various power, hand, and air tools, further enhancing your technical capabilities. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness and organization in your work areas, as well as ensuring that tools and equipment are properly cared for, will be part of your duties. It is imperative that you consistently practice and adhere to established safety procedures to ensure a secure working environment at all times.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location.
- Junior or Senior enrolled in High School 2025-2026 - The internship could begin 9/1/2025 and go through the 2025-2026 school year.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years of age.
- You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Additional Requirements:
- Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
- Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
- By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
