Lead Cable Technician *Location:* Sandston, VA
*Schedule:* Monday-Saturday | Flexibility required for 10-12 hour shifts Position Overview Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated *Lead Cable Technician* to supervise and guide a crew of 5-10 technicians in the installation of structured cabling systems within a high-profile data center environment. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in cable installation who are ready to take on leadership responsibilities and ensure quality, safety, and efficiency across all phases of the infrastructure buildout. As a Lead Technician, you will serve as the on-site point of contact for your crew, delegate tasks, provide technical guidance, and ensure that all work aligns with project specifications and industry standards. Must have prior experience leadership job experience. Key Responsibilities * Lead and supervise a team of cable technicians during structured cabling installations * Delegate tasks and ensure proper execution of cable pulling, routing, termination, and testing * Oversee installation of cable trays, pathways, server racks, and low-voltage devices * Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and project timelines * Perform hands-on tasks including fiber and copper cable termination, punchdowns, and rack assembly * Train and mentor junior technicians on best practices and technical procedures * Interpret construction drawings and ensure work aligns with project specifications * Coordinate with project managers and other trades to maintain workflow and resolve issues * Complete and submit accurate documentation including timesheets, work orders, and material transfers * Enforce job site rules and maintain a clean, organized work environment Required Skills & Qualifications * 3+ years of experience in structured cabling or low-voltage systems * Prior experience leading or mentoring technicians on job sites * Proficient in Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber optic cable installation and termination * Strong understanding of cable routing methods and support systems (J-hooks, trays, bridal rings, etc.) * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings * Familiarity with fire-stopping procedures and grounding requirements * Excellent communication and organizational skills * Punctual, dependable, and flexible with work hours Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
