Job Title: Insurance Verification Specialist Pay: $24/hr Location: San Pedro, CA 90732 Schedule * Sub Acute: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM * ED: Start time between 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM (8-hour shift) with alternating weekends (either Saturday or Sunday, not both) Job Description ED Admitting / Sub Acute Admissions Candidates will be cross-trained in both areas. Day-to-Day Duties: * Confirm patient insurance coverage and identify potential authorization needs for treatment * Collect patient demographics and medical information to ensure appropriate account reimbursement * Utilize EPIC for patient intake and updating/verifying demographics * Authorize patients for beds * Handle claims, request authorizations, and attach referrals * Identify services requiring authorization and gather referral information * Verify insurance and input correct options for pre-registration: * HMO vs. PPO * Medicare, Medicaid * Collect co-pays and explain shared costs/patient financial responsibility * Receive calls from case managers at other ministries or healthcare facilities * Apply knowledge of medical terminology * Collaborate with physician offices and ministries * Support various departments at remote locations * Provide excellent customer service to both internal staff and patients, in-person and over the phone Top Skills * Insurance Verification * EPIC * Patient Intake Additional Skills & Qualifications * EPIC experience preferred * Bilingual in Spanish is a plus * 3+ years of healthcare experience in a hospital setting Employee Value Proposition (EVP) * Mission-driven: Caring for everyone, especially the most vulnerable in our communities * 24/7 mental wellness guidance and support hotline * Tuition and education assistance * Comprehensive benefits, retirement plans, and career development opportunities Work Environment: Hospital Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
