Moog's Gilbert, Arizona facility is a leading designer of spaceflight hardware and is a part of the Spacecraft Avionics business unit in the Space & Defense Group. Moog has partnered with NASA, LM, NG and many other companies to delve into the vast expanse of space. Some examples Artemis Orion Crew Capsule, Viper Lunar Rover, Satellite Laser Communications Relay, OSIRIS-REX to study asteroid composition along with complete satellite buses for the defense department.

We are seeking a talented Senior Test Engineer for our facility in Gilbert, AZ.

Here's what to expect on a day-to-day basis:

  • Responsible for design and manufacture of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for Moog products. This includes the development of EGSE test systems includes hardware, software, and documentation.
  • Working with other disciplines and within the test team to ensure program schedules and requirements are met.

Test Hardware:

  • The EGSE Hardware will interface for test purposes with a Unit Under Test ((UUT). Development of this hardware will include the selection of COTS test instruments, the design of custom test 'boxes', and the design or selection of cabling. Test hardware must be capable of verifying all stated capabilities and contractual design requirements for the UUT.
  • A typical UUT includes an embedded Single Board Computer (SBC) which interface with custom analog and digital I/O boards for Command & Data Handling (C&DH) in a cPCI form factor. Additionally, Electrical Power System (EPS) boards are included on a custom backplane extension for sub-system power switching and solar array switching/battery charging.

Test Software:

  • Create National Instruments LabVIEW VIs for COTS instrument control and monitoring, and User Interface (UI) for UUT command and telemetry.
  • Development of Python or PERL scripts to control execution of VxWorks and LabVIEW code for test automation.
  • Knowledge of VxWorks test code is desirable for integration with the C code on the SBC.
  • Familiarity with VHDL is also desirable for FPGA programming and integration.

Documentation:

  • Test engineers are responsible for the creation and maintenance of assembly, schematic, and parts lists for custom test equipment through the Moog document control system. Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, and Intercept Mozaix are used for design documentation.
  • Test engineers are also responsible for the formal documentation of Integration and Test Plans, Environmental Test Plans and Acceptance Test Procedures (customer deliverables) used to document compliance with all customer and design requirements.

At a minimum you'll need to meet these qualifications:

  • A minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering and 7-10 years of position related experience.
  • A candidate must be knowledgeable in software development using any of C, LabVIEW, Python, or PERL programming languages.
  • Knowledgeable using Windows applications such as Visio, Word and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledgeable with cables and able to do cable drawings using Visio.
  • Knowledge of hardware design development.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take ownership of assignments and look for ways to execute on time.
  • Willing to assist others and mentor Junior engineers in Hardware or Software Development, Debug, and Execution.

Salary Range Transparency:

Phoenix, AZ $120,000.00-$150,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
