Job Description:

Fusion Babbitting Co., Inc. is aggressively seeking an experienced, talented, and motivated individual to lead of our CNC Department. We are a second generation, family-owned shop conveniently located 5 minutes from I-94 near American Family Field. Our workload tends to be one off and short run orders that do not allow the freedom of having "setup" pieces. With some features having a required tolerance as tight as .0005", accuracy of the programming and precision in executing those programs is paramount. Supported by the President, Process Engineer, and Quality Manager; The CNC Department Lead will establish and train a team of 4-6 Operators, and be expected not only to program but also run machines with successful outputs

Summary

Responsible for basic programming, fixturing, tool set-up, in process inspection, and finish machining of tight tolerance features (+/- 0.0005). Collaborate with Managers, Process Engineers, Operators, and Quality to plan and execute the most cost-effective method for producing quality parts.

Education

* High school diploma or GED/SHED, required

* Journeyman or 2-year technical degree, preferred

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary by Management.

* Ability to program and machine parts complete on a variety of CNC machines and controls. Programs will be written both at the machine and via MasterCAM

o Mazak Turning Center

o Toshiba TUE-200 VTL (78" Table - 94" Swing)

o Okuma VTL

o Sharp Vertical Machining Center

o Viper Milling Center

o Proto TRAK SMX Conversational Milling Center

o Milltronics Conversational Milling Center

* Independently performs basic/moderate progressive programming and machining operations

* With technical support and supervision, performs advanced progressive programming and machining operations of tight tolerance features (.0005")

* Layout work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications

* Develop processes, create part programs, select tooling, and perform setups

* Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality workmanship

* Complete required inspections, and appropriate paperwork

* Provide feedback to improve programs, processes, tooling etc

* Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area

* Perform shop duties as directed and required.

Experience & Skills

Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience. Specifically, this position requires:

* Ability to read and interpret blueprints & mechanical drawings

* Experience with CNC machining of tight tolerance features

* Experience with CNC programming of multiple machines for multiple operators

* Moderate to Advanced knowledge of Mazak turning centers and Mazatrol

* Moderate to Advanced ability to program using a CAM system, preferably Mastercam.

* Moderate to Advanced ability with conversational programming

* Knowledge of G & M code programming

* Knowledge of carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, and boring tooling

* Knowledge of feeds & speeds

* Ability to measure/inspect: lengths, diameters, radii, straightness, flatness, etc. using traditional metrology methods (ID / OD Micrometer, Caliper, Depth Gage, Radius Gage)

* Basic knowledge of GD & T

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

* Ability to multi-task efficiently

* Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems using critical thinking skills

* Ability to organize and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and expectations

Other Requirements

* Valid driver's license, preferred

* Exceptional Attendance Record

* Successful completion of Fusion Babbitting Overhead Crane Training, required

* Successful completion of Fusion Babbitting Forklift Training, required
