GEL Engineering, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a skilled Assistant Project Coordinator to join our team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office to provide administrative and project support using Microsoft Office 365 tools and industry software (Deltek). The Assistant Project Coordinator's responsibilities include supporting Project Coordinators, Project Managers, and other technical staff from project initiation to delivery of final products to clients. The Assistant Project Coordinator will also support other office needs like data entry, report preparation, and communication with PMs and clients. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, excellent in Microsoft Office 365 applications, and understand the engineering consulting industry.

The Assistant Project Coordinator will be responsible for:



  • Supporting other Project Coordinators, Project Managers, and technical staff in the Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville, SC offices, along with our Asheville and Raleigh, NC offices, and Louisville, KY office
  • Updating and maintaining databases pertinent to the Engineering division
  • Supporting Project Coordinators in entering data into the Deltek system, providing quality review for data entered into Deltek and performing invoicing
  • Handling duties related to account receivables
  • Supporting ongoing environmental and engineering projects as needed

Qualifications for Assistant Project Coordinator:



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); this includes formatting existing documents and creating new documents
  • Excellent writing and communications skills (ability to compose internal and external emails with proper grammar and spelling
  • Expertise with account receivables (A/R)
  • Resourcefulness to solve problems of varying complexity
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently
  • Document prep experience (printing, collating, binding, and divider/tab insertion)
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint
  • High School Diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least one year of administrative experience in an architectural, construction, or engineering firm (ACE experience)
