SUMMARY:

The Director, National Accounts & Value Access Solutions is a key member of the Market Access organization responsible for securing optimal product access and ensuring patients can benefit from therapies across national, regional, and federal accounts. This role serves as the primary face of access with payers, institutions, and specialty pharmacies, leading strategic contracting, reimbursement, and pull-through efforts. The Director partners cross-functionally with Commercial, Medical, Patient Services, and Finance to drive favorable formulary positioning, overcome access barriers, and deliver both patient and corporate outcomes. This is a strategic, access-focused role (not sales) that blends account management, payer policy, and reimbursement expertise.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

National & Regional Account Leadership

  • Develop, negotiate, and execute strategic contracts with commercial, federal, and state payers, PBMs, Medicare Part D, Managed Medicaid, and Exchange Plans as appropriate.
  • Secure and maintain favorable formulary access and/or medical policies, achieving ROI thresholds and minimizing access barriers.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with payer decision-makers, including Pharmacy/Medical Directors, Contract Managers, and Clinical Pharmacists.
  • Monitor evolving public and private payer policies, pricing regulations, and formulary updates to inform strategy.

Patient & Provider Access Solutions

  • Provide end-to-end reimbursement support including prior authorizations, appeals, denials, billing, and coding.
  • Support specialty pharmacies, institutional accounts, and Hemophilia Treatment Centers with compliant reimbursement guidance.
  • Track and communicate local payer billing/coding requirements; review invoicing for discrepancies, including 340B.
  • Collaborate with field sales to implement pull-through programs that maximize formulary wins and provider adoption.

Cross-Functional Strategy & Leadership

  • Serve as a thought leader on payer policy, pricing communication, and reimbursement practices across business units.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align patient access solutions with corporate goals and launch strategies.
  • Educate and support field sales teams with payer landscape insights, training, and tools to enhance market access.
  • Manage budgets responsibly while ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Willingness to take on extra projects to develop and execute launch strategies for pipeline projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7-12 years' experience in pharmaceutical/biotech market access, managed markets, or payer/reimbursement roles.
  • Deep understanding of contracting, government programs, buy-and-bill reimbursement, and specialty biologic access.
  • Experience in oncology, hematology, or cell and gene therapy strongly preferred.
  • Proven success managing national accounts, payers, or institutional customers.
  • Strong collaboration, negotiation, and communication skills with ability to influence senior decision-makers.
