Position Overview

Position Summary:

The Department of Music at Eastern New Mexico University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor of Voice positions to begin in August 2026.


The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching applied voice (in private and class settings) and courses in diction, vocal literature, stagecraft, and/or vocal pedagogy as needed within the vocal area; piano and minimal accompanying experience is required, and experience with music direction of college-level opera/musical theatre is desirable. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is expected.

Review of materials will begin November 1, 2025, and continue until the position is filled.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach a 12-credit-hour load each semester
  • Continued efforts in performance and scholarly activity
  • Serve on department, college, and university committees
  • Academic advising
  • Commitment to advancing the goals and mission of the department, including departmental assessment, strategic plans, curriculum development, student recruitment, and student retention
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department chair or dean

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • DMA, DM, or PhD in Voice or related field; ABD may be considered, depending on completion date.
  • Strong university-level vocal teacher and performer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University-level teaching experience
  • Record of scholarly activity and/or creative work in vocal performance
  • Keyboard skills sufficient to adequately support vocal instruction

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Scholarly and teaching experience in applied voice
  • Commitment to teaching and working on a campus that values diversity and student success

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
