This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes at the Covestro South Deerfield Site. This includes the sustainability and development of these operations to allow for the safe and responsible production of both Thermoplastic Polyurethane and Polycarbonate films.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Integrates the site's incident free workplace culture into all activities. Mitigates complex safety related issues and provides leadership on site safety teams. Capable of Management of Change activities for complex process and project activities.
  • Provides day to day support to production activities. Updates process condition tracking sheets, making changes for process optimization. Develops new / updates Standard Operating Procedures and materials for operator training activities. Leads the planning for process and product development trials.
  • Provides technical support to the production and maintenance teams in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Applies root cause analysis techniques to identify and resolve complex issues with raw materials, processing equipment, and operating techniques. Capable of leading teams through structured problem-solving activities to solve both internal and external issues.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset. Leads complex continuous improvement teams / efforts at the site. Identifies opportunities and solutions for improvement activities at the site.
  • Capable of leading site capital improvement projects. Provides necessary process engineering support to complex capital improvement projects across the site. Identifies improvement project opportunities as well as potential solutions.
  • Utilizes their understanding of business and economic drivers to identify and develop project opportunities at the site.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) with 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or maintenance environment; OR a Master's degree in engineering with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or maintenance environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional registrations and/or certifications are desirable
  • Advanced Degree Desirable
  • 8+ years of experience, with thermoplastic film extrusion and web handling
  • Microsoft Office, CAD, MS Project, Minitab, SAP experience

  • Diligent and conscientious worker, self-motivated, self-starter and possessing self-directive capabilities.
